Future Service Planning

Origin to Destination Survey

From February 23 to 25, and from March 9 to 17, YRT/Viva will be conducting an origin-destination survey which will help us to better understand where customers are starting, and ending, their trips
on transit.

The survey will take place on TTC contracted routes operating north of Steeles Avenue. The purpose of the survey is to identify customer travel patterns in York Region and Toronto.

Surveyors will display a YRT/Viva badge, and will ask passengers if they are interested in participating. If yes , several brief questions will be asked pertaining to your origin and destination.

We appreciate your participation in this survey.

2010-2015

The Five-Year Service Plan (2010-2015) will prepare York Region’s transit system for a new era
of rapid transit.

The new Five-Year Service Plan will incorporate the key principles of:

• Planning for easy, convenient and direct connections to future and existing rapid transit services (i.e. proposed subway and VivaNext initiatives)

• Maximizing potential for success with new service strategies, with a view to making significant gains in cost recovery and ridership levels

• Developing decision-making tools based on a sound Business Intelligence approach

The Five-Year Service Plan will serve as the framework document for guiding the direction of transit operations in York Region from 2010-2015. It will focus on enhancing service levels and promoting ridership growth, while ensuring sound economic performance.

We are currently finalizing the Five-Year Service Plan and will post it on this page when it is available. Check back soon.

Public Information Centres

Every year, YRT hosts Public Information Centres so we can hear what you have to say. Your feedback helps us complete an annual review of transit services which is intended to improve route operation, increase accessibility to transit services and increase transit ridership.

Public Information Centres give you an opportunity to find out what YRT has planned for your local area, including:

  • Proposed routing changes
  • Service expansion plans
  • General service improvements

You can also ask questions and discuss the proposed plans with YRT staff. We look forward to hearing your feedback on the following:

  • Do the proposed plans meet your needs?
  • Is the current level of service adequate?
  • What improvements would you suggest?

Upcoming Public Information Centres

There are currently no Public Information Centres planned. Stay tuned!
