Student fare information
If you are a high school student, you can pay student fares or use a student monthly pass as long as you show a valid Student ID Card or YRT Student ID Card when boarding. You can also use a TTC Student ID card for YRT/Viva services.
How to get a High School Student ID Card:
- Contact your high school for more information.
- If you have a valid student ID card from your high school, you do not need a YRT issued card to buy and use student fares.
How to get a YRT Student ID Card:
- Get a signed letter from your principal or vice principal showing that you are a full-time high school student.
- Come in and fill out an application at the York Region Transit office (50 High Tech Road, Richmond Hill, Ontario) from Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. We will take your picture and create your YRT Student ID Card for you at the cost of $5.00.
- If you do not have a letter, we will contact your school for verification of your student status.
